Grace Mugure: Our Transport Sector needs clean up.

Grace Mugure:          I will talk about the transport sector in Kenya. It is sad that as a nation we could sadly say that Michuki died and so 'Michuki Rules' died too. So who will reduce greatly or stop these road carnage thing? And about Bribes. Can't someone come in and do some clean up in this whole transport sector once and for all. It's quite sad that the a bigger part of kenyans suffer silently because as the pullouts in one of the Daily had it,'if they talk about it they are damned...and if the don't they are doomed.
It is sad that traffic police usually harass motorists around Nairobi of the small offences, others even implicated on them, with the obvious reason,to force them give bribes. On the other hand they totally giving a blind eye to long distance PSVs. I remember one time my friends from church and I waited for a vehicle till dawn..and we were told to wait for a bus in Eldoret to take us to Uganda, from Nairobi. The travel tickets stated that we would leave on Wednesday 7pm.
At 5am on Thursday, tired of sleeping on the uncomfortable seats at a certain booking office,a bus showed up.We tried to ask for another bus and the management arrogantly communicated there would be no other bus for us.
It's breaks were faulty...there was a problem with the gears..and you could feel every change of the lever. Not to mention that the driver was very very tired. He only travelled with a helpmate who seemed to be a better tout. Every time they exchanged we would feel uncomfortable but we would not complain. That was just a careless company that re-scheduled our trip carelessly in an unroadworthy vehicle for innocent Kenyans. Thank God we arrived safe.
On my return journey,I came with a bus that was destined to country bus, commonly known as  'Mashako' . It was horibble. I sat on the 3seater with some other 2 adults,2children who seemed to be of age 5 and 7. Luggage was bulging from the carrier. Below our seats and around our feet were chicken.. on the pathways passenger put their bags and light luggage and sat and that seemed very normal. Is this what cheap is? No comfort, safety of passenger or luggage. It was such a bad long trip. I can't remember any other trip, where I failed to leave the bus just to stretch my feet during the stop overs. This time round,I got to Nairobi and as I stood to alight..my feet were TOTALLY numb. It felt like going through a punishment and not anything close to a journey.

Tunaomba Serikali ifanye kitu. Those buses at country bus..please relevant authorities should      camp there!! Not just camping but do some serious legit work.
The matatus too...on some short distance routes..schedule a serious operation and carry out your duty sincerely..ban the non-compliant drivers, buses. Otherwise, the bribes just make you unpopular, and sorry to say but these cases of commoners roughing  up traffic cops,is on the rise. The society has to be reminded that you are a serious group that is out to enforce the highway code, failure to which one is vulnerable to stand in court and pay the hefty fine charges or worse, spend a good time of their life in the cold cells or is it prison. And by the way why are cells cold? Just wondered when i recently went to Kasarani police station and latter Milimani traffic court cells.

LITTERING IN THE CITY.
Nairobi is a great city. From the buildings, pavements, streets...it's really good. I like admiring the city when I get town early or when I stay late in town waiting for someone. When people are walking home or to the offices, along the streets...it's beautiful to admire the view from a building.
HOWEVER,most Kenyans still drop litter even with the bins around. Anyway...my case is different..today i had this bottle...and i knew by the time someone notices a bottle fly, they will be eager to hurry and get it quick. And true to my pressuming...some1 came and immediately took the plastic and carried it with his stock.....<plastics>. Hehe... My litter was some1's business for kesho. Blessed Monday. *Forgive my kingereza Great people*
