Ever bit much than you could chew? I just did by choosing a topic I know nothing about! Maybe I have heard a lot of theory about it! To write a post about how marriage works.. bearing in mind that I am saved and living for Jesus...haha status hidden deliberately* ask me in Camera.
Anyway I wanted to highlight the few things i have seen in the ones that are working.
- Marriage is NOT a give 50% and take 50%, It's a give,give and give more ... affair... You give more than a100% . This way, no one is drawing from the package.... As a matter of fact you are overflowing the relationship with your goodness!
- Marriage is a commitment. Marriage goes beyond 'I love you' .... 'I care' Much as these words are used, wait they should be used in a marriage setting, it's in the same institution they are underused. The man should remind her with his words and actions every now and then that he loves her and that he cares...and she should remind him and act like it..that she submits,respects him as her head and appreciates the sacrifices he makes for the family.
- Marriage works. Look around and count the marriages that are working... They are more than we think. Most people's problem is looking at the glass from (a half empty perspective). Media broadcasts partners tearing into each other and stories on breakups get more hits than shares on stock market news...
- Marriage is an institution where forbearance should be the norm. You should not the mistakes of the other person...as mistakes.. you are a team and should work together to improve the unit. Day by day....bit by bit and just like fine wine... your marriage will get from better to best as days go by....
